I'm a UX Senior Product Designer with 15+ years turning fragmented, high-stakes workflows into guided experiences — grounded in real research, built for the people actually using them. My work spans enterprise operations at Amtrak and Verisign, AI-driven product design, and mission-driven platforms for government and nonprofit teams.
Selected Work
Most of my recent work is product and UX design for complex, operational systems enterprise platforms, government workflows, AI driven tools. I've included a couple of brand and marketing projects too, since the underlying skill is the same: understand the user, cut the noise, guide the decision.
As UX Product Design lead across three fragmented internal B2C platforms, Reduce 50% cost of manteinance and consolidated a 12–18 step legacy workflow into a guided, mobile-first 6–9 step experience — grounded in in-person research across three real traveler personas.

Restructured Verisign.com's information architecture and homepage messaging to serve four very different audiences — IT specialists, policymakers, registrar partners, and investors — using the Double Diamond process.
Designed the web experience for a custom home-building platform, guiding buyers to the entry point that matched them: start from scratch, customize an existing floor plan, or choose a home already under construction.
Designed the responsive marketing site and lead-generation experience for a college admissions consulting firm — Brand and information architecture through UI, built around a clear conversion path to consultation.
Designed the marketing site and value-proposition experience for a credentials verification platform, tailoring the message to five distinct audiences — individuals, educators, training institutes, businesses, and commerce.
UX strategy for NameStudio, an AI-driven naming product, plus ongoing contributions to the scalable design system powering Verisign's enterprise web platforms.
Led branding, communications, and digital presence for PIANC USA's national dredging conference and technical exhibitions.
Designed creative materials supporting communications and event initiatives for the U.S. Public Health Service.
Campaign and communications design for two immigrant-rights legal service nonprofits — reflecting a commitment to purpose-driven, community-focused work.
Product design work for GoodSeeker's guided storytelling platform, helping organizations collect and showcase employee and customer stories for employer branding and recruitment.
How I Can Help
Whether you need an enterprise design system or a national conference brand, I bring the same rigor to both.
End-to-end UX for web and product experiences — research, information architecture, interaction design, and design systems that scale.
Fractional or embedded creative direction — building design culture, mentoring teams, and aligning design with business goals.
Full identity systems for national conferences and campaigns — signage, digital programs, sponsor kits, and motion graphics.
Cohesive visual storytelling across print and digital — from logo systems to social media kits and collateral.
Stakeholder interviews, contextual research, and audits to uncover real needs and constraints before designing anything.
Synthesize research into clear problem statements, personas, and success criteria the whole team aligns behind.
Facilitate collaborative workshops and design sprints to generate and stress-test ideas fast, with the people who'll live with the outcome.
Workshops & Design SprintsFrom wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes — brand and usability developed together, not in sequence.
Put real work in front of real users, then iterate on what actually happens — not assumptions.
Open to leading UX and creative teams inside a mission-driven or enterprise organization.
Part-time creative direction for teams that need senior design leadership without a full-time hire.
Project-based branding and design work via AG Design Strategies, for conferences, campaigns, and nonprofits.
About
I'm Alejandro González Román, a Senior UX Product Designer with over 15+ years of experience designing for complex, high-stakes systems — from Amtrak's internal B2B operations platforms to enterprise design systems at Verisign, where I currently lead UX strategy and research for AI-driven projects like NameStudio.
My core strength is taking fragmented, operational workflows — the kind with real constraints, legacy systems, and users who can't afford confusion — and consolidating them into flows that are simpler without hiding necessary complexity. That's meant embedding directly with product and engineering teams, running in-person research instead of relying on assumptions, and designing for multiple real user types in one coherent system rather than bolting on separate paths for each.
Alongside that enterprise and product work, I run AG Design Strategies, where I partner with nonprofits, advocacy groups, and government agencies on conference branding, campaigns, and digital experiences — work that's sharpened the same underlying skill: translating what an organization needs into something people can actually use.
"Everything needs design — not just to look better, but to make life easier."
That belief is at the core of my work: thoughtful design isn't just aesthetic — it's essential. I'm known for upbeat energy, a collaborative approach, and the ability to translate abstract or technical problems into clean, usable systems.
